This North American wildflower grows well in full sun in very well drained, even sandy and gravelly, soil. It gets its common name, Catchfly, from its habit of trapping very small insects in its flowers. Hummingbirds and butterflies enjoy its nectar. Royal Catchfly can be short lived, so be sure to allow it to reseed in your garden.
